Lori Mortimer, Secretary
Parent of Young Children

Lori Moritmer is the mother of two children who have attended Little Sprouts Child Enrichment Centers since they were infants. She has a Master's degree in English from Montclair State University and eleven years of experience in the training industry as a writer, instructional designer, and project manager. She has also written freelance articles about online course development for Learning Circuits, the webzine of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD). In an effort to strike a better work-life balance, Lori recently left the corporate workforce and returned to teaching part-time at a local university. On the side, she dabbles in writing and weblog design. She also loves the outdoors, but only in the warm weather. Once the mercury drops below 50 degrees, you'll find Lori bundled up inside somewhere, preferably with a warm child on her lap and a good book in her hand (or possibly the TiVo remote). She lives in Methuen, MA with her husband, kids, Chewy the Boston Terrier, Digger the gerbil, and a large litter of dust bunnies.

Dr. Rene Thomas
Co-Founder and Owner of New Hope Center and Kids Need Us Now
Dr. Rene Thomas is the co-founder and owner of the New Hope Center and Kids Need Us Now. She is an acclaimed researcher, author and clinician, and believes that too many children are unnecessarily medicated. Her work shows that a proper diet can help reduce issues of obesity and behavioral problems. She has performed extensive research over the past three decades focusing on children with Attention Deficit Disorder and Dyslexia. She is the Executive Director of the New Hope Center in Lawrence, MA and is dedicated to helping children improve their performance in school and lead healthy and happy lives.

She is fascinated by how children learn. She has authored over 70 books including ones for parents and children. She is working on a documentary of 7 children with major physical and emotional challenges, and after 12 weeks on her program they experienced major changes. “We can give kids books, teach them to read and encourage them, but if there are physical problems, we’ll just scratch our heads and wonder where we went wrong”, says Dr. Rene.
