Merrimack Valley Reading Association
has been formed in collaboration with the Leadership and Literacy
Foundation, a local chapter of the National Reading Association.

Through the leadership of Sal Lupoli, Chairman of the Board
for the Foundation, these two projects will include a partnership
with the Lawrence Public Schools, parents, and the local business
community. If you would like more information regarding this

In April 2007, Project STRIVE classes moved to Cambridge College's
Lawrence campus location with outstanding success. An initiative
in the upcoming months is to expand this partnership to the
Cambridge College campuses located in Cambridge and Springfield.
The Foundation, Little Sprouts Child Enrichment Centers, and
Cambridge College are currently working together to develop
a early numeracy curriculum for preschoolers. Once developed
this curriculum will be implemented at all of the Little Sprouts
Early Education Centers.
Roxbury Community College, The Foundation, Little Sprouts
Child Enrichment Centers, and PBS Behind the Lions curriculum
development team will be begin work on a literacy curriculum.
This curriculum will be targeted for children at Little Sprouts
new Early Education Center at Roxbury Community College.
The foundation sits on the steering committee of a group from
Lawrence, MA who are planning to open a children's museum
in that city.
The Foundation is working on a plan to purchase a book mobile
that would serve the Merrimack Valley.
