The Leadership and Literacy Foundation Partners with Debbie's Treasure Chest
The Leadership and Literacy Foundation (LLF) was established in 2003 by a group of educators whose goal is to make a difference in the lives of children, adults, the community and the workplace through literacy, effective communication and leadership skills. LLF provides a wide array of services to the community that includes: Education and Training, Workplace Education, and Community based leadership and literacy initiatives. The partnership with Debbie’s Treasure Chest (DTC) was a natural fit. DTC was founded seven years ago by three adopted children (Maxine Harvey, d.o.b. 1/20/96, Talia Harvey d.o.b 11/2/99 and Anna McCabe d.o.b 2/2/95), with the support of their parents who decided to collect and give toys, books and stuffed animals to children at the Department of Social Services. In 2006, the children renamed their charity Debbie’s Treasure Chest, in memory of Deborah D’Iorio, a social worker with the Department, who had acted in the past as their liaison.
